What a candidate has to say about a given issue is important. Just ask Virginia Delegate Bob Marshall. Speaking at a news conference to promote the idea of de-funding Plan Parenthood Marshall said:
"The number of children who are born subsequent to a first abortion who have handicaps has increased dramatically. Why? Because when you abort the firstborn of any, nature takes its vengeance on the subsequent children.
"In the Old Testament, the firstborn of every being, animal and man, was dedicated to the Lord," he added. "There's a special punishment Christians would suggest -- and with the knowledge that they have in faith, it's been verified by a study from Virginia Commonwealth University -- first abortions, of a first pregnancy, are much more damaging to a woman than latter abortions."
Marshall has been back peddling all over the statement since the media attention started. Marshall’s defense is predicable, claiming media coverage is not fair and people are not interpreting his remarks correctly. When Marshall used words like “vengeance” and “punishment” I think it is pretty clear what he was implying. Watch the video and decide for yourself. It is very likely Marshall will be staring in his next opponent's campaign ads.
